Engineering managers direct and coordinate activities related to design, operations, quality assurance, testing, or manufacturing of products.
They are responsible for developing the overall concept of a new product or for solving the technical problems.
To accomplish this, they must determine technical goals and produce detailed plans.
Engineering managers confer with other managers, including those in finance, production, and marketing, as well as with contractors and equipment and materials suppliers.
They must know how to prepare budgets, hire staff, and supervise employees.
They propose budgets for projects and programs and determine staff, training, and equipment needs.

Responsibilities:
Manage engineers and designers in the research, design, development, and evaluation of products, and systems Develop processes, policies, and procedures and ensure all engineering projects align with the organization's objectives Collaborate with other engineering disciplines, management, sales and marketing, and related departments as necessary to determine engineering feasibility, cost effectiveness, and demand for engineering products and services Manage engineering verification activities to ensure product deliverables are met on-time and conform to the organization's and/or client's specifications Advise leadership and other impacted departments on product or design changes which may affect profit, schedule, cost, or client relationships Responsible for hiring, firing, performance appraisals, and pay reviews This job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee.

Minimum Requirements:
Education:
Bachelor's Degree in an Engineering discipline
Experience:
Minimum of Eight years of relevant engineering experience and at least one year of leadership responsibility Skills/Competencies:
Demonstrated aptitude for time management skills; ability to handle multiple tasks; set priorities and meet deadlines within established budget Understanding and wide application of technical principles, theories, and concepts related to materials engineering Solutions-oriented thinking for difficult, technical situations Self-directed and proficient with time and project management Other Skills:
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal Excellent presentation skills Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, PowerPoint and Excel Ability to adapt/ adjust to new technologies and methods Locations with U.

The Engineering Manager leads a team of experienced professionals who exercise latitude and independence in their assignments.
The incumbent in this role is responsible for the success of the program or value stream and reports to the Director, Engineering.
Engineering Managers work with internal teams and will interact with external customers.
This position has significant impact on the financial success of the business.
